Mars on Earth
Concept
The dawn of Mars colonization is upon us. Mars pod environments here on Earth will simulate human needs of comfortable, clean, private and familiar environments, informed by evidence-based design.
Goal
The goal of the project is to create simulation spaces which will be designed here on Earth, mimicking the isolation and conditions on Mars, while providing the inhabitants with enough social, physical and mental activities.
These habitats will act as a training ground for anyone who is selected for a future Mars mission. What is meant by “living conditions” is the condition of being away from civilization by not being able to directly contact the outside world. This also includes living inside the pods for long periods of time without leaving.

WAKING UP
7am -
Daily conferences are held in the meeting room/lab. It is a chat meeting with mission control “back on Earth”.
The reason why it is a chat is that there is a delay between the signals from the Earth (this is rigged here on Earth, of course). It ranges from 3 minutes to 21 minutes.
Space Planning
The space is planned out in a radial organization, to maximize the space of a circle plan.
